EASTCOAST VP INVITED TO PANEL DISCUSSION ON MEP TRADE DETAILING AT CANBIM 2015

11-Jun-2015

Introduces New Design to Construction Technology to Designers and Project Managers involved with Building Information Modeling

Toronto, ON (June 11, 2015) - Randy Swaim, Vice President of EastCoast CAD/CAM, was one of 5 panelists invited to participate in the MEP Trade Detailing Software Session that took place at the CanBIM Technology Built Innovation Conference in Toronto, Ontario. This session discussed how trade detailing software system are enabling MEP trades to compete and outperform in their detailing and shop fabrication activities.

Randy's portion of the presentation described how EastCoast CAD/CAM Design to Fabrication software helps project stakeholders, such as GCs and Owners on a project, to meet project deliverable requirements. "Attending BIM conferences such as CanBIM gives me the opportunity to talk to project managers, design professionals, and engineers involved with commercial construction projects, who may not be aware that the MEP trade contractors they work with have access to technology that allow them to better collaborate within a Building Information Modeling environment. We have a growing list of customers in Canada that find that our software can give them better tools for managing their HVAC and Mechanical detailing and fabrication activities, while also working more effectively with engineering teams who design inside Autodesk Revit, and also with general managers on projects where Revit models are the deliverable requirement."

As Vice President of EastCoast CAD/CAM, for the past 15 years Randy has been an industry evangelist for streamlining and modernizing the contractor's detailing and fabrication processes. He has a deep understanding of HVAC, Piping and Plumbing industries, developed by firsthand experience over the past 40 years, first as a young tradesman with a mechanical and sheet metal contractor in Texas, and following that, the continuation of a successful career in contracting, where he was involved in many aspects of the field, including project management, estimating, fabrication, and on-site installation. Moving into the CAD and estimating software industry has provided Randy with the opportunity to contribute his skillset to software development, and to foster the adoption of new technology by the MEP industry.
